Sanders strikes gold at Agadir African Triathlon Cup

Pulling together the perfect race to round off her 2018 season, South African triathlete Gill Sanders was crowned the winner of the Agadir standard distance African Triathlon Cup race held in Morocco on 4 November 2018. With the leading three swimmers 9 seconds ahead of the rest of the bunch, Sanders, Emmie Charayron from France and Vera Vilaca from Portugal all finished the two lap 1500m swim in a time of 19:18. The trio worked together on the cycle, completing the four lap 38,4km bike in a time of 1:05:25. The three lap 10km run would decide the winner. Sanders proved that her experience played to her advantage and came away with a 37:02 run time and finishing time of 2:03:11. Second place went to France’s Charayron who finished 8 seconds behind Sanders. Vilaca from Portugal finished third in a time of 2:08:18.
