The South African Institute of Drug-Free Sport has informed Triathlon South Africa that Annah Watkinson has been charged on 12 October 2022 with the following anti-doping rule violations namely an adverse analytical finding in respect of prohibited substances, namely:
- presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in an Athlete’s Sample, pursuant to Article 2.1 of the ADR, by virtue of the presence of Mestanolone; and
- use of Mestanolone pursuant to Article 2.2. of the ADR.
The athlete has been temporary suspended from participating in all competitions, events or other activities as from 11 January 2022. The matter is yet to be concluded.
